About Council 8065 PDF Print E-mail

Welcome to the St. Matthew Council 8065 of the Knights of Columbus. We represent the Knights of Columbus, the world's largest Catholic fraternal organization. St. Matthew's Council 8065 was founded in 1982. Council 8065 works closely with the St Matthew's Parish, providing funds for various Parish projects and organizations, and providing annual Scholarships to local area Catholic High Schools. Its 214 members are active participants in our parish, serve on various parish organizations and hold leadership positions on the Parish Council, Building Committee, Capital Campaign Committee and ACTS. We invite all qualified men, whether they belong to St. Matthew's or not, to contact us if they are interested in joining.

The Knights of Columbus Council 8065 promote Catholic and familyvalues by providing numerous activities throughout the year that the entire family can participate in. Our charity involves many activities within our St. Matthew Parish Community, the San Antonio Archdiocese, the State of Texas and worldwide. Additionally, we provide an opportunity to ensure that every Knight's family is provided for in the event of his death.

The Knights of Columbus is a world's largest Catholic Men's organization. As Knights of Columbus, we stand on four pillars:

  • Charity: Gospel obligation to perform good works and to love Christ in our neighbors.
  • Unity: Realization of charity by working together.
  • Fraternity: Vision of our fellowship as a family.
  • Patriotism:Our duty topromote moral governmentat alllevels.

Our founder, the Venerable Father Michael J. McGivney, chose the name Knights of Columbus to honor Christopher Columbus, the Catholic discoverer of America. We call ourselves "Knights" so we are ever mindful of the knightly qualities of spirituality and service to church that is embodied in the Knights of Columbus.
